Lobsters are closer to fish than frogs?

NASCAR COTs are not any closer to any "stock" vehicle than IRL or F1. All are 100% purpose-built. So what? They do what they are designed to do.

But in IRL, ALMS, and F1, at least the racing is real.

You mean like how last year Lewis Hamilton's win was taken away based on a lame judgement call AFTER the race? Or how Ferrari drivers kept on getting away with BS that got others in jeopardy? If anything's fake racing, it's F1. And IRL? That's not even racing when even the drivers apologize to the fans after the race for it being so boring. smile

No, i mean the way NASCAR calls "competition yellows" to close up the field whenever a driver is actually faster than others.

I never mentioned what happened to JPM, but I figure he got penalized for speeding, just like Paul Tracy lost a place in Toronto for not circulating fast enough under yellow.

But even NASCAR fans admit that it seems a bit odd that every time a driver or even a small group get ahead, a yellow flag appears.

We didn't see one today though. There were multiple green flag stops and everything. I am not denying they don't throw fake debris cautions but it's not a norm as we saw today and quite a few times this season. But thru it all, the drivers still have to race it out, whether it be a long green run marathon for hundreds of laps or a 10 lap sprint at the end and if you enjoy seeing hard racing, you can't beat this.

It would help your argument if you knew what a"competition yellow" was. BTW, which of the few cautions in today's race was not justified, in your opinion?

NASCAR cars are still more stock than Indy Cars and Formula 1 cars and ALMS prototypes.
They are all purpose built race cars with no relation to anything that anyone drives on the streets.

As of today, it's not ever RACING, it's CHASING... As in CHASING fans away with the Chase For The Cup.

And the only STOCK in NASCAR is what the ISC shareholders trade.

No, no, no, no!!!!! Your NASCAR fanhood is revoked because even though you watch the races you do not pay attention to all of the lame babble that they subject us to. Here is a job for you, go to your local Chevy dealer and ask for 1 part that goes onto a NASCAR Cup car. They will laugh at you and call you stupid behind your back. Even the engines are not produced by the factories anymore, but generally sub-let and made to race specs. Sorry but your misconception is the one that is very common and has been propigated by NASCAR on purpose.

Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday is no more. Don't even think about, sit back enjoy the racing (when NASCAR doesn't screw with it with mystery cautions) and do not let it bother you.

No. Hasn't been for thrity years. It is "Spec Racing".

The real question is: Do you like to watch it, Y/N? If so, do. If not, dont.

What it is called is not relevant.

It's possible there are still some stock parts being used.

Not in any of the major series! But maybe in the Whelen All-American Series.
