Montoya getting screwed

A race fan can only take so much... NASCAR's manipulation of the Brickyard 400, on the most hallowed ground in motorsports is unforgivable. The penalty to Montoya was a blatant attempt to alter the outcome of the race. It was at that moment that I turned the channel - and I will never watch another NASCAR race again.

What evidence do any of you have that Montoya was screwed. Do you have access to the data? Or, are you just huffing and puffing?

Really. I was rootin' for JPM and felt he was so strong he deserved the win. But....if he wuz speedin' he wuz speeedin'. If he wasn't then he was robbed. But all these accusations of fixing come with no evidence. To me, that's as bad as what ya's are accusin' NASCAR of.....

This is very easy to resolve. You know those white lines that go across pit road?OK. Smoke had 2 15.20 pit times w/pit road time of 46.90 & 46.70. JJ's last stop was 15.20 w/pit road time of 45.10!That's 1.6 sec. less for JJ. than Smoke (who is as good as anybody). JPM's last stop was 14.60/44.40 as opposed to JJ's last stop (times above) which is ONLY .10 second (1/10th!) difference than JPM's. So if JPM was actually speeding, so was the Hendrick stableboy! JJ's 1st stop was a 14.60/45.40. So how in the heck could he pull off a 15.20 pit stop and come off pit road 3/10's faster than with a 14.60 which is 6/10's slower stop but 3/10's faster!Do the math!IT WAS THE LAST STOP AND JPM WAS SCREWED! No more need be said, hence my user name!
That's where the timing loops are. Each of them is exactly 150 feet apart.
Now time how many seconds it takes Montoya to cross each line. We know teams are allowed to go 60 miles per hour (in a 55 mph zone).
60 miles per hour = 88 feet per second
Since the lines are 150 feet apart, a driver should cross them no sooner than every 1.7045 seconds.
If Montoya crosses any two lines in less than 1.7045 seconds, then NASCAR is correct. If you want to accuse NASCAR of being wrong, the burden of proof is on you.

Montoya sped on pit road. Plain and simple. He made a mistake.

I rarely get to watch Wind Tunnel but heard Dave sort of blew over this race? I've never thought of him as a NASCAR apologist? Is he? I mean it's not like he is in DW's shoes or any of the guys that broadcast the races.

after watching nascar since the 50's, i can say without any doubt that Montoyas "speeding"was the worst case of "home cooking" i have ever seen the myoptic nascar boys pull off.if this is how the spoonfed brian france wants to make his "show" international, he has shot himself in the foot. and yes, i expect Despain to put a nascar spin on it.+1 NASCAR the WWE of scripted motorsports
I'd say I've had my eyes opened for 15 years or so now and am sorta embarrassed to say I still pay attention. But today was so over the top blatant, and embarrassing I almost feel bad for them and the newer fans who think they have something to enjoy.
As for all the folks who believe you can prove this with the data...etc...you don't think NASCAR doesn't have the ability to make the data look any way they want to???
I've asked this in other threads and still haven't gotten an answer..Go back 8-10 years ago and you would have been laughed off the planet if you ever accused NASCAR of throwing a phoney debris caution and now its an accepted part of the sport. Speeding on pit road is just one more way they can twist it.
Wake up folks.. Not saying don't watch if it's what you enjoy, but please take the hook out of your mouth.

The story about the mythical French driver, Pierre Debris, and his always causing yellow flags late in the race has been around for since at least the '60s. NASCAR has always been about the show and never mind the go.
