No F1 racing/ambient noise under Varsha or Hobbs

Want to make sure this is not a problem with my cable. Both practice and qualifying sounded terrible with no racing noise under Varsha or Hobbs, just slurping coffee and heavy breathing. The only race noise was when they went to Windsor in Spain. Bob and David sounded oblivious to the problem, being quite and "riding along" when they had a shot from the cockpit, but there was no sound. It was really bad. My cable company says they simply rebroadcast what they're sent. Anyone else notice this?

I didn't notice anything with either sessions, however, my cable has been out of sync with video-audio on a number of channels as of late.

I did some googling and found an earlier post from someone with the same problem. I wonder if it could be something with the HD broadcast? I'm not watching in HD, don't have it.

Here's the post I found...

"Am I the only viewer who does not get sound from the track, only the commentator's comments and heavy breathing. This is every broadcast - qualifying and the races.

The only joy has been the recent races that have been on Fox as at least I get sound even though it is poorer coverage of the race.

I have sent emails to SpeedTV but of course they don't bother to respond or seem to care.

Anyone else got the same issue??..."

It ends up being a mixing problem between left/right and common/surround settings on the cable company's decoder and encoder boxes. I have several channels with similar problems and luckily Speed isn't one of them.

I see a problem with speed's signal a lot. it just fuzzes in and out a lot. but Still the audio is good. But its not much a local cable or sat. office can do. Just the feed they get. Then throw in the HD/SD signals, and if they are crossed, you may get the HD signal but SD won't show it so u just get black screen and only audio.

I work for my local cable company and we have audio problems with Speed HD, but not with the regular standard definition Speed "feed". Speed HD's audio is heard about 1/4 of a second before the picture. It is not noticeable unless you are watching someone speak. When we first started carrying Speed HD we only heard the ambiance sounds on live events, including F1 broadcasts, through the front left and right speakers in a 5.1 surround sound setup. After a few calls to Fox the ambiance sounds disappeared and now only the announcers can be heard. No track sounds or ambiance sounds still. Also when trying to record on our DVR STBs no sound is recorded. We think this is due to the audio and video being off-sync.

I work in the engineering office of my cable company but both of our head-end techs (that operate the satellite dishes, receiving, and rebroadcasting equipment) have went over the equipment on our end and have found nothing wrong. The audio problem is being transmitted to us from Fox. We also have the same audio and DVR recording problems with the National Geographic HD channel. Both channels come from the same Fox satellite.

Both techs have called Fox several times about the problems and every time Fox has said the problem in on our end. How can it be our problem when many other cable companies are having the same problem? We have talked to other cable companies and they say Fox gives them the same run-around they give us. If I ever get moved into one of the head-end tech jobs, my first job will be calling Fox to get the audio problems fixed one way or another. We have over 400 other channels that come from other "feeds" that don't have the problems Speed HD and NGC HD has.

I noticed the same problem on Speed HD during Friday practice at Abu Dhabi. No audio at all from the world feed. No sound from commercial bumpers or the animations that open every segment. The only time I got to hear an F1 engine was when Peter Windsor's mike was open. This is not a problem that can be created by local cable companies. It is in Speed-TV's hands, and they need to step up and fix this problem.

Not Speed's problem. I have not had a single issue with audio this year. I even started getting the HD feed in August and never once had the problem.
