I was watching a truck race;and they kept mentioning "Romeo Windows". What's a Romeo Window?

Lisa, the Romeo window is a triangular piece of clear ΒΌ inch hardened polycarbonate that is installed on the left and right side of the truck. It basically is a clear plastic filler panel that fills the gap between the number 13 rear support bars of the roll cage where they exit the roof of the truck and enter into the bed of the truck. They are required to fit tight against the back of the truck cab/rear window; they need to be a minimum of 17 inches tall and a maximum of 19 inches tall. The minimum length is 24 inches with a maximum length of 30 inches. The basic purpose of these is to increase aerodynamic stability; they are particularly effective in the draft. When we first started using them they were only used at Daytona and Talladega. They are now mandated to be installed at every track.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words I have included two pictures of the 57 truck. Note the triangular clear plastic that fills the void between the truck bed, truck cab/rear window, and rear support down bar. It is held in place on the bed similarly to a side window; in that it slides into a slotted window bed and has quick disconnects. The panel is particularly visible in the second picture on the left rear support bar; as it can be seen sticking above the left bar which has the Chevrolet decal on it. Hope this helps to answer your question.
