Let's start the 'Chase' at Daytona.....43rd position 'finisher' at Daytona is out of the Chase. If one didn't qualify for Daytona, they are out of the Chase. Anyone starting their season after Daytona is not eligable for the Chase. Each race on the schedule the next lowest finsher is out and so on. Someone is on the verge of being eliminated from the Chase each race. When you come to the final race of the year (36 race season), you will have 7 drivers in contention....highest finsher takes the Championship!

Nascar fans live in a world of propaganda. They shell out money and drool over their favorite driver like they are some kind of deity.

NASCAR...if you are going to continue with "The Chase", why not consider this:
Each week the "Chasers" will be locked into the top 12 starting positions. During qualfying, they would be the last 12 cars to qualify in order of a draw. Fastest of the 12 would, obviously, win the pole. If, for some reason, they have to make a mechanical change such as an engine or even wreck during qualifying the worst they would start is 12th.
It is ridiculous that some of the "filler" teams are higher in the starting grid than the "chasers". Two different agendas. Blaney and Nemechek and others who run for as little as 10 laps should not be a factor in the chase.
Not a terrible idea, but starting position is not as important as finishing position, so I would go one further: award points to the chase drivers according to where they finish among the chase drivers only, and points to the rest of the field according to their finish order at large; in other words, if Gordon is 1st, and Martin 5th, and 3 non-chasers 2nd, 3rd, 4th, award first place points to Gordon, 2nd place points to Martin, and so on for the chase drivers, making how the non-chasers start and finish a non-issue for the chasers.
Maybe give 100 'chase' points for 1st, 90 for second, and so on..........
I think combined as you guys have presented is a hell of an idea and would solve the early elimination of chase drivers. IMHO there should be very few contenders eliminated at this point.
