LOL......yeah, its definitely a bit tongue-in-cheek. I should have made it "WRECKIN_IS_RACIN?".....but didn't think about it until now.

Anyhow, it takes two to tangle. That being said, while the stuff that happened before the last turn of the last lap was entirely the Flying Lizard's fault - running the Vette off at turn two a couple of times, various acts of blocking, etc, the front straight issue was started when the Corvette blasted his way under the 45 in turn 11. Then as the Porsche drove him down into the pit wall, Magnusson never backed off, and as he finished the pass actually attemted to drive the 45 off track to the outside, spinning himself off the left front of the Porsche in the process.

On a related note, the ALMS could have given the 45 a one lap penalty, and they would have still won, as those two were the only cars on that lap, the Corvette never crossed the line, and the 45 was the leader as they crossed the line.

I agree. The ALMS is the best series out there. Yesterdays race was definitely a nail biter to the end. The Lowes Fernandez car actually getting past Gil DeFarren was awesome even if it didn't stick. And the GT2 finish was the finish of the year! Can't wait until Sebring 2010, I'll be there!

Porche fan: Mag tried to go where there was no room and cut across the track and spun.
Vette fan: Jorg went left and more left when he did not need to and ran Mag into the wall. When Mag bounced off the wall Jorg drove the rear wheels to the left and spun him.
ALMS: Both on probation.

Hard to say how the spin happend from where I was. Both cars went left and I bet Mag did not want to hit the wall. Jorg got hit and I am sure he did not like it much. Who could blame him. Mag thought Jorg parked in the corner. Hard to say. He was slow in the corner taking a blocking line. Mag was setup to come to the inside on the straight. OOPS a slow Porche in the way. big surprise
Seriously though, good drivers, good race, unfortunate end.

IF the Corvette didn't blast the back bumper of the 45 from about 50 feet out on the last turn, I'd agree. But he did so I don't.

The entire incident was made up of retaliatory moves, first the Corvette pops the Porsche's bumper then the Porsche forces the Corvette into the wall.

It was as much the fault of one as it was the other, from my perspective. But what the Porsche did was pointless, Bergmeister should have given the Corvette both the track and the race, the championship being decided when the Risi Ferrari went out - and the chanpionship was more important than the race.

wow, what an ending.to me that was was like watching two kids in a candy store, two great drivers with the go ahead from their teams to get it done.i'm sure neither of them meant to hurt the other one,it was racing in its purist form.the last race of the season, the last few laps of the race.i can't imagine the rush these two guys must have had during those laps, berg said in the post interview he was still shaking, hell i was shaking just watching.anyway, great race, great finish,to bad about the wreck, but i bet they would both ask to do it again next year.

If they really want to race like that, they should go race NASCAR, as the CoT is the only race car on the planet that is safe enough to "drive" that way.
