,but i bet they would both ask to do it again next year.

If they really want to race like that, they should go race NASCAR, as the CoT is the only race car on the planet that is safe enough to "drive" that way.

Got that right.

The sparks coming off the left side of the Vette in the fading light would indicate otherwise.

In fact there is a series of still photos (Digital Corvettes) that show the Vette about halfway past the Porsche and then suddenly turning sharply right across the Porsche's nose, while the Porsche never changes direction at all.

After Berg pushed Mags right up to the wall, Mags apparently got in the marbles on the left or simply cut too hard right trying to head of Berg.

In any case, both drivers were using way too much force, and both drivers were driving the way the Series had indicated they could (by not penalizing avoidable contact earlier.)

Finally IMSA took action, and hopefully they continue as needed, to keep ALMS in the realm of skill-based, and not impact-based driving contests.

It was a very ugly incident.

Have to admit the HD recording shows no contact with the wall. On the track, the hi-beam head lights reflecting on the wall must have been what appeared to be sparks. You can see this on the video. Thanks.

[If they really want to race like that, they should go race NASCAR, as the CoT is the only race car on the planet that is safe enough to "drive" that way.] it's true they touch more often in nascar than any other series, but when was the last time a driver was "moved" out of the way without nascar neutering the mover.it was just really nice to see a race end in areal battle to the line.

For a quick refresher on the subject, here's a couple of examples of NASCAR finishes... in both cases the results stand and there were no penalties handed out...

I'm new to the forums and couldn't wait to get to the office today to try to find the email or contact info for ALMS and/or IMSA to let them know how angry I am regarding this incident. However, I couldn't find any accurate contact info. Anybody know who to contact?
I cannot believe that Bergmeister wasn't at least penalized 30-60 seconds for his actions on the track....THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Especially after the Corvette had to give the spot back after he made an "unauthorized pass", or whatever it was called, several laps earlier.
This race ran on Saturday and they should have made a decision that day......or at least yesterday (Sunday). As of this morning, not a peep from ALMS.
As a poster said above, this is indeed a black mark on this series. I went to 3 events this year (Sebring, St. Pete & CT) and if this is the type of race officiating we will see, then I guess I'll keep my money next year.
Who do we contact?

The officials have several camera angles (more than what you get on a TV broadcast) and they also use the in car videos to view the incident from both cars and surely have watched it several times over.
To add to that, the data from the car is also requested, analyzed and studied. Every driver movement and action, speed, braking amount, throttle input from that incident and before can be seen.
Both drivers were most likely called in to state their claims and watch all the videos, and data.
What you see on TV is not the full story. The series, the drivers know the full story and the drivers can't hide the truth...
So if a judgment is made, it's made with a lot of information and 100% more than what you have, even if you were standing there...
They do get it wrong once and while, but it's so rare anymore with all the technology around....
