Nothing's official as yet, will be a real shame if A1GP does go under because it produced some great racing over the last 4 seasons & some racing during the winter months when F1, indycar Etc... wasn't running.

No surprise, they are supposed to be in Australia on Monday for a test day, and there is no sign that the cars are even packed and loaded for the trip there.

I know people think I wanted this to happen but I just thought from the business rumblings that have been out their for well over a year that this was inevitable.Good people, good racing, and othet things.Someone will benefit from this and this is where I was coming from and I hope its the ICS.IMO.

How will the ICS benefit from this?? I fail to see your logic.

It won't. Most of the teams involved in the preparation of A1GP cars were already involved in other series such as GP2 and the IRL. It allowed their crews some form of employment during the winter when most of the series would be off and not working. Not to mention since there was few if any sponsors left in the series, even if the series was to die tommorow, the IRL would not benefit from its demise.

Alot of race teams, personnel, sponsors, and venues like Austrailia,Brasil, and China could be looking for new people to partner.Hey, someone will and it could be some of the European Series too. Stefmeister and Jes would be able to tell you better than I could in those regards.

Considering the IRL has yet to even announce a venue in Brazil, I highly doubt they would venture around the globe. They only travel to Japan because Honda is their engine supplier. Not to mention the fact that Australia was on the table and the IRL rejected it because of the travel costs, even though it is a successful event.

Earlier this week, I read that the court ordered DOT to release the cars to TT. Less than a week to work out the engine deal and shipping seems to be almost impossible. In any account, we will know soon enough.

I agree stef, A1GP provided some fantastic racing during the boring cold winter months. I remember the 1st year they came to Laguna Seca.

BTW there was talk last weekend that SuperLeague Formula could replace A1GP at Surfers, maybe not this year but possibly from next year.
