Robin is right! The champion of any series should be the one who won the most races. Second place is the first loser. Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. Winning is the only thing in racing. Podiums are ########.

In fact, who came up with the stupid idea of podiums? Where did this come from? When was the first instance of putting 3 people on the winner's rostrum? What a stupid idea!

The big problem would be that the Championship could be decided long before the end of the season.

And why is that a problem? Many "stick and ball" sports have series to determine the championship, but they all do not come down to game 7. The "Superbowl" is really the only one that has one final game.

Sorry, NASCARs biggest problem is that they feel that every race has to come right down to the very end. No they don't. Back in the early 80's when Bill Elliot had the field covered it was amazing to watch him do it. What many consider NASCAR's glory days are when the sport was dominated by a few cars.

Not every race can be a photo finish, and the championship can't always either. Like this years. Its over right now.

And this one isn't?

I agree, when the money is in the point fund instead of the purse, the racing is dead.

How about instead of race wins, we give the title to the driver with the most laps led?

If one team finished second in every race, a bunch of other teams each won a race and finished third or worse in every race, and one guy DNF'd every race and won two ... here's your champion!

A team could win a couple races and start-and-park and win a championship if wins were all that mattered.

I don't care when the Championship is decided. always a plus when it is the last race, but really, who cares? If the racing is good, it is still good racing.

But in racing, a lot more than winning matters. If I guy who won one race and ran seciond in every other race loses to a guy who won two races and finished last in evry other ... then if the same guy got lucky at Talladega and Daytona, he could be champion while running 443rd all season except the last lap of the two races when he drove through the collision to take the win. How would he be "Champion," the best driver in the field, better than the guy who ran up front in every race?
