It was interesting that Varsha raised the point that apparently Heikki has been saying to the general media that he's been treated fairly at McLaren while telling the Finnish media that he hasn't been. Apparently McLaren isn't too thrilled with that and have asked him to explain.

If all that is true, one has to wonder who is advising Heikki about keeping his ride at McLaren. That surely isn't the way to do it.

I think Heiki already knows that he's not going to drive for McLaren next year. The only question is will he be the reserve driver or in one of the new teams. There are no equalities in this world and Heiki surely has not shown much talent to deserve more.

i doubt Kimi is going to beat Lewis at McLaren. Even if they get the same treatment. He beat out Alonso or tied him in his rookie season. Tell me they favored Hamilton when they had the 2time reigning world champion. See when you take that into consideration all Kimi going to McLaren will do is make Lewis that much faster and stronger. It seems like nothing for him to beat the pants off Kovalainen, but even when someone of WDC caliber is at the plate, he HAS NOT LOST. He's only been in F1 for 3 years. What about Kimi now? McLaren gave preferential treatment to him over Montoya. Designed the car around his driving style. I guess Juan Pablo was too aggressive? Who knows but to say that McLaren only gave preferred treatment to Hamilton is a lie. Kimi, when there before, got the treatment over Montoya.

Here's another take on Kimi going to Mclaren.

After having the critisism's he's had the past year or 2 & after been dropped by Ferrari, I think Kimi will be ultra fired up wherever he ends up.

If He does end up at McLaren alongside Lewis I think if Lewis does indeed start putperforming Kimi & by a big margin I think this will really start pushing Kimi who I think will go back to the ultra aggressive, Kimi we saw when he was at Mclaren before.

While I would like to see Heidfeld get the 2nd Mclaren seat because Id love to see him in a real competitive car, I'd also love to see Kimi alongside Lewis because I think that would be a facinating driver paring that would end up benefitting both drivers via them pushing each other right to the limit.

So after what happened to Alonso he was not surprised that he would always be number 2? Heikki is not going to keep his ride if he is complaining.

Heikki has shown flashes of speed but considering in a difficult year how many points Lewis has scored the comparison isnt flattering for Heikki. He's been at 2 decent teams now and hasn't cut the mustard. Even in F1 which can be incestuous pit (they keep recycling drivers among different teams) I doubt he will find a drive. Right now there are more desirable drivers than there are seats.

I'd be surprised if Heikki is left without a ride. He may not have a good ride though.

As of now, I believe there are open seats in Campos, Manor, USF1, Sauber, McLaren, Renault, Force India, Toro Rosso, and Brawn. With Hammy as McLaren's #1, Button as Brawn's #1, Kubica as Renault's #1, and with Bruno Senna in one of the new teams (Manor?) ... that leaves a total of 14 seats open (2 in Campos, 1 in Manor, 2 in USF1, 2 in Sauber, 2 in Force India, 2 in Toro Rosso, 1 in Renault, 1 in McLaren and 1 in Brawn).

Out of the 2009 drivers, let's see who hasn't been confirmed YET for a ride next year ...

1. Kimi
2. Nico
3. Heikki
4. Heidfeld
5. Sutil
6. Luizzi
7. Grosjean
8. Trulli
9. Glock
10. Buemi
11. Alguersuari
12. Nakajima
13. Kobayashi

With 14 seats left, and 13 drivers from the 2009 lineup vying for the positions, I can't fathom Heikki being left in the dust.

ps: I didn't include Nelsinho in the group. He deserves to be banned for life.

Did Lewis Hamilton not complain to the UK media after Monaco 2007 about the number 2 on his car ?

Did Alonso not complain to the Spanish media about not receiving the type of treatment one would expect for being a 2 x WDC ?

My point is: Heikki complaining about non-preference to his native media isn't a sign of disloyalty. Perhaps its not the best way to do things - appealing to the court of public opinion as one's lobby to gain some measure of preference from the team - but it isn't unique to Heikki and it has occurred with recent McLaren drivers.

You appear to be missing the issue.

It's not about Heikki complaining. It's about him saying all the right things to the general media, and then saying something completely different to his native press.

Perhaps they think he's being disingenuous.

And that concern is quite different to the examples you gave.
