In a word: BORING
That being said, what ideas to make it a race?
A couple which are not likely good ones off the top of my head but either would make it a race instead of friday night on the expressway:
1. take off the wings? Just a thought.. take away all the "downforce" that makes the cars so fast. Let the drivers finese the throttle (even without the restrictor plate?) and drive a car that isnt planted into the track. Obviously this would slow them down a LOT. It would also give them alot better visibility.
2. Make the race just 20 laps so that it is an exciting race and not just a joy ride until the end. Like many others, while I had the race on, I paid it no attention until the last 40 laps or so. I beliive it was Kevin Harvick who asked about putting in an IPod to listen to during the race?
Are there some reasonable ideas? Hopefully somene has some and someone listens. Watching grass grow would have been as exciting.

If the super speedways were to make the racing better but we the fans find it more boring each time then maybe they don't make the racing better and should be replaced with smaller traces that allow the drivers to race and the fans to enjoy the race?
