If Talladega wasn't an ISC track, they wouldn't even consider racing there. All the changes they can think of won't make things any better there. Unsafe AND boring - not the best combination for a race, is it? Of course, they could always turn the track into a tunnel of catch fencing, run 35 laps, and call it a 'steel cage match'.

Nascar simply wont admit when they are wrong, the COT is a piece of crap. If they want to keep the bigger car get rid of that stupid front splitter and rear wing, somethin like the 5star s2 body package, and give em some throttle response

I understand fuel injection is on the way anyway and low compression engines would be a quick fix, but chopping the engines down to V6 would be the best in the long run. Many of the die hard racing purist fans like myself really want the cars to look like something from the showroom. The COT mandated safety equipment should fit within the stock confines of all the cars represented now. Just go back to equalizing them with the rear lip spoiler like they used to. Right now it seem like the only new "fans" they're attracting are the crash loving WWE crowd.

The only thing these restrit plates do is make the race a big wreck waiting to happen. Take the plates off and make them build a small engine but with no restrictions so that they can race and not go around in circles following each other. For the fans safety, move the seating back about 20 more yards and also have higher and better catch fences. The cars are not really cars that we ride each day to work. Go back to the days when the frames were the same as what we buy at the dealer. People go to these races now for the purpose of seeing the wrecks not the driving skills. nascar needs to revamp under different leadership. Boring racing leads to less fan base. It's the 30% plan. 30% of people will like the racing no matter what is done or not done. 30% of people will never like racing no matter what is done to get them to watch. Then there is the 30% of people that are undecided. This is the group that you want to watch your racing. They are the ones that put you in the black not red zone. nascar should be trying their best to get these people to enjoy this type of racing. Unfortunately, nascar is very narrow sighted with their vision. They're more concerned about keeping their base happy. Doing that leads to less sponsors, etc.. If the public knows that they can go to the dealer and buy a car that is almost exactly like the one they race, then they will buy. I remember when Petty was running and so many people were wanting a Plymouth with the "hemi" engine. People were into the "mopar" thing! I can't tell you the difference between these things they run today. They are stamped out with paint on headlights!!! Get back to the roots of this type of racing. Get rid of the chase format. It sucks. There should be an asterisk by Johnson's name because his title wins aren't the same as when there was no chase format. The title run nowadays is actually two seasons within one. This year is no different than the past ones. Johnson would be in 3rd place right now, maybe second, if there were no chase format. Gordon would be in first with Stewart or Johnson in second, something like that. I don't think it makes the guy who is winning all during the season and is in first place to all of a sudden with 10 races to go drop their leads and start fresh. What is the purpose of the first 26 races? nascar is just making is worse. Because of the inability to make the racing exciting they try and add or take away things thinking that will be what makes it fun and exciting to watch. Wrong! Just get back to the basics. No more of all of these rules. Make real cars, etc. Do away with the lucky dog, and other crap that they have invented. Get back to letting the driver race.

I think what many people tend to forget is that no matter what a sanctioning body does, someone is going to find a way to go faster. It's why there were so many single file segments. What if NASCAR had said: "No single files of more than four cars in length"? There would still be complaining, BUT, you'd see more side-by-side racing. The downside of that is, with the cars being so equal, there would be more wrecks. Doesn't matter if there is FI, wings or anything else. The WAY that people are racing is what needs to be addressed.

The new approach should be the use to old technology. Stock 4 liter blocks and fuel injection like the rest of the world uses in racing. They need to use their partners to fix this. I.E. Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Dodge. Or maybe they will wait until someone gets killed again to be the safest motor sport. Oh wait a minute that's forward thinking. They just need to keep taking dollars from everyone that will work for now. To listen to every driver feel the same way about the situation doesn't sit well with me.

Remember that these cars weigh 3,400 pounds -- the heaviest circuit-racing cars in the world. It takes horsepower and torque to get them moving and hitting top speeds, and normally aspirated 4-litre motors won't do it. For 600 miles. Engineers already believe that running 6-litre V-8s with pushrod valves to +9,000 RPM for +4 hours is nothing short of a miracle.
Likewise, V-6s won't work. They tried them for a couple of years in the Busch Series and Ford couldn't buy a win -- their V-6s just blew up and Mark Martin can tell you all about it.
