Memphis was only the beginning. Evidently Dover Motor sports is attempting to sell the company. Just what we dont need, more SMI and ISC control. :( Furthermore that mean ill spirited sour B O Smith offered going stock price per share....plus a nickel. Dover is better and more unique than half of the tracks Mr cookie cutter queen owns. Oh well, on the bright side....nobody lives forever..........
These are the true victims of Brian Frances ignorance....The little guys! I think its time for Brian France and Mike Helton to resign

I'll just blame this on the stupid Lt. Rent - a - Cop who had me escorted out because I pointed out his incompetance during their first IRL race...
"Sir, you need to keep quiet" ... he didn't like me embarrassing him in front of a few hundred others who were equally screwed by his incompetance during an autograph session...
I hope he's homeless...

I guess the media hasnt really picked up on this at all and I have no clue as to why. Trust me its in the works and has been for a while. As a shareholder I have received a survey questionaire explaining whats going on. There were then 8 or 10 questions asking me everything from what I thought was a fair selling per share price, to who to sell it to, or whether to keep running as is, or whether to merger...etc. Id rather the current management run it into the ground rather than sell it to Smith

I have seen quite a few Busch races at Memphis and a couple truck races. Last Busch race I attended was sold out in 2005 maybe. Was there when Jeff Green clinched the championship in the Nesquick car and I think Harvick won the race.
Sad to see it go. I hope we don't lose Dover on the circuit.

So they close Memphis one week, then announce they are going away the next? Confirms a long standing belief that most track promoters are indeed shady at best.

I dont think we would lose Dover on the circuit. I think it would still would have cup racing, just with a new owner. Id be more concerned what would the fates be for Nashville and Gateway

Didn't the old Nashville short track shut down this past week though. I know it isn't the Superspeedway, but i remember the old short track there that held races for a number of years, probably the most famous being the All American 400 for ASA back in the day.

Yeah they raced "Cup" races from 1958-84, Busch on and off from 1984-2000, and Truck from 1996-2000. Then the "superspeedway" was built across town.
They also had weekly racing, and special events like the AA.
It was probably the last place left a common driver could take his race car and run where the big boys do/did...
