The worst-kept secret in IndyCar racing is finally confirmed as clothier IZOD signs on for a multi-year deal to sponsor the renamed 'IZOD IndyCar Series.'

Very good to see happen! Hopefully some of those drivers without rides can get some full season rides and make this a solid 2010 season and a strong turning point for our American Open wheel racing. Lord knows we need positivity and good growth for Indycar!

How, about that? Terry Angstadt has finally done his job... now if Brian Barnhart can get down to business with the new chassis and engine rules for 2012 (that's still a long way off), we can move beyond the malaise of TG's failed vision...

I'm very happy to see that the IRL has a new sponsor IZOD and it is also great to see tha Ryan Hunter also has IZOD as a sponsor as well. I think that perhaps the most important thing next will be how good will the television package be.

The most important piece of information, aside from the must needed money input, is the races showing on ABC, exposure is all, sponsors will follow.

Good news. I hope they can inject some excitement into the racing and personalities also (bringing PT back into the series would go a long way). I also hope the ABC addition will mean it's easier to fine the races on TV.

ABC/ESPN did 5 races this year, so unless they've added to that number it's the same deal. Good news though, and I'll be picking up some IZOD stuff I'm sure!

Some good news for once. I just hope it's not too little too late. I also hope it doesn't mean we'll be seeing more of that tiresome Izod commercial with RHR, the fake-tanned girls and the tedious blues riff...once was enough but it ran about 20x per race

Are they bringing money for the naming rights, or just supplying yellow shirts for Indy? (Which might be more lucrative for IMS). Downside, one less car with a sponsor.

Not necessarily. Just because they're the title sponsor doesn't mean they can't also sponsor a car.

Great sponsor; right demographic; a +ve turn on the grim TV coverage situation. Now, about those dull anemic spec cars... Have to agree with mjj237; hope this isn't a case of too little too late. Kudos to IZOD for a gutsy "buy low" move; hope it works!
