No surprise here, but I am surprised Kimi accepted this deal. He had a firm contract.Seems starnge his maagement is playing such hardball now and let Ferrari off employment conditions.Normal, They prefer he doesn't race.He probably would rather stay home !

McLaren is smart to try to save by factoring in Kimi's Ferrari money, but why don't they up their offer a bit? If they offered him 10 (+10) million, it'd still be less than they'd have to pay someone else, and Kimi would almost have to accept. Not that I think he's actually worth that kind of money, but it would seem to be a good result for both sides.

Kimi is my favorite driver, but man is he making a bad decision. This is his best shot at winning another title and what's another 2 million Euro to him? If I was him I'd have signed on the line that was dotted about a month ago.

Typical Kimi, he's so set in his position, he can't even see the total revenge factor that McLaren represents. I really believe he doesn't need it but that's him. The McLaren people know they'd love to get Kimi off his butt and back into a car with the obvious intent of pushing Ferrari manufacturer points down the list every time Kimi finishes in 2010. After they bullied MB at Abu Dhabi, I'd be stone cold shocked dead to see them cave on Kimi. I suspect that Ron Dennis is in the background, as he must have been last weekend, squeezing every last Euro until it reaches 98.6 degrees fahrenheit. LOL at the thought of that image.

I don't think it's fair for anyone to consider Kimi's Ferrari money when they are thinking of what to pay him. It's not the dole - there are no offsets entitled here. But seriously, another 2 mil is nothing to Raikkonen so he should just sign and keep racing. He probably could get another WDC and not doing it just seemslike he's being petty.

No one has mentioned the Hamilton factor. KR comes in, kicks LH's butt, and daddy hami has to get involved. Then for odd reasons, KR's car breaks down every race thereafter.

McLaren makes the offer. Hamilton's manager has no role. Kimi holds the cards. He has laid them on the table. McLaren ultimately accepts or negates. I doubt we will see him in an F1 car in 2010.

Kimi, stay home, drink vodka, go rallying, count euros, laugh at everyone, but I would still rather see you kicking ass on the track.

It would be a huge mistake for him to sit out a season. You just don't sit out and come back 100%. You lose a lot of edge and skill. And since there is no testing allowed, it would be worse. I have a hard time sympathizing for someone set to make 15-17mil
