I thought we needed something official.

Other than the obvious with Speis, does anyone know about this William Dunlop kid running as a wild-card in the 250's? It says he is from "IRL", so wondering if he was in any way related to the great Joey?

looks like it might be really windy on Sunday. May mix things up a bit, and might even cause some crashing. Wind tunnel testing might pay off.

William Dunlop is the nephew of Joey Dunlop.

He has seen both his uncle and father die in road racing.

Won the Northwest 200 after his father died in practice for the event - it was a touching moment.

RR, better put a 'spoilers' tag on this or someone will get their panties in a bunch.

Thanks for the info ND. Any idea how old he is? What his racing background is?

Edit: Gary, I posted just after you did. Thanks for that.

I couldn't find a biography, RR - but I don't think he's over 25.

Ok, I'll keep an eye out for him on Sunday. Today he wasn't within the 107% limit, but hopefully he will improve.

He is 23-ish.

He officially quit traditional road racing after his father died.

He has a brother Michael, who I beleive is the one who actually won the race that Gary referred to, but, that is totally from memory and could be very wrong.

Ah, ok ND, i didn't realize that he had a brother that raced. In that family their mother probably raced too...

Traditionally, true road racers have not done very well on "closed" cricuits. My thinking is that the have trouble finding the extra little bit after spending a career racing while always considering poles, walls, curbs, buildings, etc..
