Actually, they did try 5th Gear, and it's ratings were stillborn.[/quote:9ce690c11f]

Ah, I actually remember that. It was a while ago, but I remember because I watched it! Top Gear has a bigger following, I think, but I desparately want either of them![/quote:9ce690c11f]

Speed asked for Top gear at the time and it was not available to them.

When it did become available, it's cost was too high to risk picking up after the 5th gear disaster.

Since it's not on Discovery now would probably indicate the ratings were not good there either.

And when all else fails, BLAME SPEED!

“Crap programs” are anything that I don’t like.

“Because I don’t watch it” means that nobody watches it either.

Discovery had Top Gear and it apparently didn't work for them. There was a hint tht Top Gear may be filming in the US and that might help if it is true.

The problem with the Specialty channels is they don't stick to their main focus.

For instance the top show on G4TechTv in the States is the Man Show, Country Music Televisons main show in Canada is Married with Children, The History Channel in Canada is stuff like Charlies Angels. I guess they all are looking for rating. I'm sure Speed will be airing the Iron Chef. The Food Network will be airing Indy Car races soon. LOL

There was actually CRTC investigation for The History Channel over their airing of CSI, and it was oked as it had history (911). No controversy over them airing JAG as well though (I don't know that it is more or less fiction vs history than CSI).

Get more road racing on SPEED. Air classic road racing. Show biographies of road racers. Show history on road racing. Shows like the one David Hobbes narrated and hosted. Show re-runs of Goodwood Festivals. Bring back F1 Decade.

oh baby that made it move a bit more more then that "half dressed bimbo" does

Sorry Zippy, but Speed is "sellng out" in a sense, the core reason the channel was created was to broadcast motorsport atleast... i think or am i missing something?... and whether or not they are in a situation where they have no choice but to make this thing make money... its a slap in the face to their viewers that have begged non stop for motorsports, and not mainstream drama's

DON'T TELL US ABOUT SPEED AS A BUSINESS ZIPPY!! they ask us what we want ...we tell them.... and end up with crap like the launch hour since SPEEDVISION died... its all gone to heck

If that "half dressed bimbo" is any sign of SPEEDs program direction... we're in for NASCAR and a whole lot of nothing else

Who asked? Where?

I have been here for 5 years and they haven't asked for our opinion on much of anything in a few years. Doesn't stop people from telling them though.

Speedvision was created to exploit the testosterone set. Not just motorsports like road racing but airplanes, boats plus movies and automotive programming. It was not pure racing.

SPEED's original mission was to support FOX's NASCAR contract and they do that very well. That didn't mean racing though. Things have changed, the network has evolved. The world of racing has changed. The cable and satelite industry has changed. These boards have evolved and grown but still remain the same. smile

Thats how TNN went from WoO and Winter Heat to WWE and Baywatch as SpikeTV. Or how MTV and VH1 went from music videos to Date My Mom and Flava of Love. Yeah, change happens...but rarely is change ever good for anyone other than shareholders rolleyes

OMG what a disgusting load of crap that show is/was. :x

If the station is making money and the shareholders are happy then there is an audience that is also happy. The unhappy fact of life is that there will always be a few unhappy people. Voting with our remote is pretty ineffectual because we are too small to make a difference. :?

As an IHRA sportsman drag racer I would love to see coverage of the sportsman racers that make drag racing.dump some of the shows like UNIQUE whips + chop cut rebuild + put on real racing if I wanted to watch garbage I would watch stick + ball sports. The sportsman need representation.we work hard to get where we are.more grass roots stuff I like that name That dial in show.blow it up sucks,so does the record show.Put some of the sportsman stuff you record at the national IHRA event on to show how competitive it really is.
